Antique Edwardian Sterling Silver Vesta Case

Collectable Sterling Silver Vesta Case. Featuring engraved fillagree ornamentation with initials of 'W.N  7/9/1901' and striker on base.  With an original sturdy ring attachment for wearing on a chain.  Lovely condition with good hinge and clear hallmark.  Vesta Cases were made from 1880-1920 as small portable boxes to hold and keep matches dry.  They became fashionable and ranged from the most basic to the more elaborate showing wealth and style.

Material: Sterling Silver hallmarked C1900 Chester England.  Makers Mark 'W.N'

Dimensions: Height 3.7cm, Width 3.5cm, Depth 1cm

Condition: Inscribed Initials 'WM' 7/9/1901.  Naturally aged patina. Good used Antique Condition.  Lovely fillagree pattern front and back with a good working hinge.
